This 45 ACP cartridge from Federal’s Syntech line of ammunition features a 230 grain projectile with the technologically advanced Total Synthetic Jacket (TSJ). The all-polymer TSJ entirely encapsulates the bullet’s lead core, reducing friction by 12 percent as well as barrel heat by 14 percent while fired. Because it eliminates metal on metal contact, this bullet minimizes copper and lead residue accumulation and also extends a barrel’s lifespan. Furthermore, because the TSJ totally covers the bullet’s base, this round is much safer to fire indoors where you’d be put at risk of inhaling lead fumes.
This clean firing round additionally features the Catalyst lead-free primer, even further suiting it for indoor training. This round has less perceived recoil, so it’s easier on the wrists and makes follow-up shots easier. Finally, the nature of its jacket drastically reduces the chance of harmful splash-back occurring while you’re firing at steel targets.

Put 1,000 rounds through my Sig 1911 last month. Not a single jam. Burns clean. Significantly less wear on the barrel. Almost no splatter. Well worth the extra few bucks

I put about 200 rounds of this ammo through my Springfield TRP operator. Although I have had no trouble with other ammo I could barely get through 5 rounds of the Syntech without stovepipes or non-ejected casings. Avoid this ammo for sure.

It has been two months and an additional 400+ rounds since last review. Zero issues, clean burns, and little carbon build up. Have shot steel challenge and USPSA with ammo. Bargain rating lower just because I can get 230gr without syntech a lot cheaper. Will have to wait long term to see if cost difference = improved gun wear.

I have put roughly 250 rounds through my Springfield 1911 with zero issues.
