The bargain basement pricing on these fine range rounds makes them an easy choice for 6-gun shooters. The all lead projectile is about as plain vanilla as you can get for your .38 special, with a large 158 grain bullet and a substantial powder charge.
Some shooters note that it has a bit of a dirty powder charge but relative to most of what you could be shooting at this price point, the Magtech .38 special is quite clean comparatively. It does have an exposed lead projectile so handling is a bit dirtier and if your revolver is old or not tuned you might notice a bit more debris, but generally speaking it’s pretty legitimate ammunition for punching holes in targets. The price cannot be beat, and the reliability is seriously high, so in all, it really does make a lot of sense to consider this load.
It moves out of the barrel at 755 feet per second and has around 200 ft. lbs. of energy at the muzzle making it a good range round that shoots easy. Similarly, the performance is more akin to range ammo, than it is for self-defense, it’s excellent training ammunition.

SO FAR I HAVE SHOT ABOUT 400 ROUNDS WITH OUT A HITCH WITH A LEVER ACTION ROSSI . I JUST SHOT SOME TODAY AND I’M SHOOTING IN A 5 INCH TARGET AT 70 YARDS. GOOD FUN AMMO!

Ordered 2000 rounds a couple weeks ago and bulkammo shipped it promptly and it arrived in a couple days. Had a chance to get to the range today and my wife and I shot a couple hundred rounds. Have heard some complain about it being smokey or dirty, that was not my experience at all. I found it to be every bit as good a target ammo as ammo I’ve used that cost almost twice the price. Gladly recommend bulk ammo and this magtech brand.

Ammo arrived in a timely manner. I haven’t had any problems with it seems to be every bit as good as the Winchester ammo I used previously.

I bought this from Bulk Ammo. Price is great and shipping was fast! Ammo is very reliable. I shot hundreds without any problems. The one bad thing is that the ammo is very dirty. The .357 Magnum ammo by Magtech was a lot cleaner. Shooting this, you get a big cloud in the face. It took an hour to clean my Smith & Wesson Model 686 Plus and it’s still not 100% clean.

This is great for outdoor ranges but it is very very smokey and dirty. My Ruger .357 Mag would come out of the range black instead of silver and had to spend extra time cleaning. I used about 200 rounds at an indoor range then was asked to leave because of the residue.

Read previous reviews on this ammunition and quite honestly disagree. Maybe I bought a favorable batch of 1000 round lots. Ran this ammo through my Ruger Vaqueros without a hitch and did not experience the smoke bomb effect that others claim. Shot over 350 steel plates and minimal residue. My Vaqueros are stainless and typically show powder residue far more than blues. I’ll continue to buy this magtech ammo when my reloading time is limited. Buy it, runs good and reliable ammunition.

It’s good ammo for the price but by far the most dirty ammo I ever shot from any company in any caliber. Next time I’ll spend $10-20 more and try another brand cause it’s a pain to clean the gun after. Tulammo is cleaner.

Shot some of this in my Ruger Security Six. Good range ammo, happy with it; but I enjoy cleaning my guns – this is about the smokiest and dirtiest ammo I’ve come across.

I see people talking about about a lot of smoke and really dirty. I have fired several hundred rounds of MagTech and have not had either problem. I would recommend this ammo it is an excellent deal for the money and really good ammo.
