The M80 is the U.S. Army’s standard 7.62×51 cartridge for engaging enemy personnel. It’s used in machine guns and sniper rifles alike, and it will do just as much good for your AR-10 or 308 hunting rifle.
This round has a 149 grain bullet – actually a couple of grains heavier than the M80 round’s usual load, but that’s five-thousands of an ounce you’re probably not going to notice all that much. As an FMJ this bullet is designed to feed without error and ward off excessive lead fouling in the barrel. A 149 grain 7.62 NATO bullet’s going to pack a mean punch at short range regardless of its terminal ballistics, but don’t make ball ammo your first (or second) pick for hunting.
This ammo’s brass case looks a little worn out around the neck. It’s not reloaded – military-grade brass cases are induction heated for better durability but often aren’t polished afterward. This ammo’s also non-corrosive, but it is magnetic and not suitable for all indoor ranges.
