Fiocchi’s American-made Field Dynamics series ammunition is relatively inexpensive compared to many other manufacturers’ offerings. Granted, this 30-06 Springfield ammo’s bullets aren’t equipped with high-tech polymer tips and bonded jackets. But so long as your aim is good (and we’re sure it is), there’s not much a spitzer profile soft point can’t accomplish out in the field.
This round’s pointed soft point weighs 150 grains. We’d advise using it for game no larger than whitetail (naturally, your opinion trumps any advice we could offer). The PSP’s 0.380 G1 BC reflects a satisfactorily flat trajectory: one which drops to around -7.6” 100 yards downrange of a 200-yard zip. You are looking at almost 2,000 ft lbs of kinetic energy transfer at 200 yards, which is double the minimum recommended for whiteys. Between its copper-alloy jacket and dense lead core, the PSP has the fortitude it needs in order to track a long wound channel. The situation for the quarry will not be improved by the PSP’s capacity for broad expansion.
Fiocchi’s quality soft points are nestled in new brass cases, complete with the noncorrosive Boxer primers that clean, reliable and reloadable performance all hinge upon.
