We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: the 308 Win is just about the most American rifle cartridge you could name (with an obligatory nod to the 30-06). But you can still wear your patriot hat even if you choose 308 Win range ammo by a foreign manufacturer. Order a case of Giraitės Ginkluotės Gamykla ammo, which is made in Lithuania, and you’ll see what we mean!
This cartridge is all about target practice. Its 147 grain bullet lacks any features that could enable terminal expansion, which means it does not belong inside a whitetail. But it also lacks any steel in its core or its jacket, which gives you full license to fire at any commercial range on the map. The bullet’s 2,700 fps muzzle velocity was taken from a 22.36” barrel. Once the 0.401 G1 BC FMJ attains its advertised muzzle velocity, it should hit 200 yards with ~1,680 ft lbs kinetic energy and then drop -8.9” at 300 (1.5″ sight height).
GGG was founded in 2000 – i.e. long after corrosive primers were phased out of commission. GGG also loads virgin brass, so you can look forward to handloading this ammo so long as you know how!
